The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) and High Bridge Trail State Park want you to know that Chesapeake Bay health starts up stream. Clean the Bay Day is an interstate program organized by the CBF and facilitated by tens of thousands of volunteers annually. The short, three-hour volunteer event has a massive impact, and all community members are asked to do their part.

On Saturday, June 1, Friends of High Bridge Trail, Clean Virginia Waterways staff and High Bridge Trail State Park will coordinate a large scale cleanup of the Appomattox River and its many tributaries and drainages.

Volunteers will meet at the Camp Paradise parking access at 1 p.m. High Bridge Trail State Park will shuttle teams of volunteers to work sites and return them to the parking area at the end of the program. Participants should wear work clothes, old shoes, gloves and sunscreen and bring bottled water and bug spray. Be prepared to walk through weeds and mud. For more information, contact the park at (434) 315-0457 or email highbridgetrail@dcr. virginia.gov.
