Accident on U.S. 360

A passenger vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning on U.S. Route 360 in Prince Edward County resulting in no major injuries, according to Meherrin Volunteer Fire & Rescue officials.

“This morning around 6:50 a.m., Meherrin Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a two-vehicle accident on (U.S.) 360 near Harrison Drive involving a passenger vehicle and tractor-trailer,” Meherrin Fire & Rescue Chief Trey Pyle said. “On arrival (we) found a passenger vehicle rear-ended into a tractor-trailer. Driver of the passenger vehicle was evaluated by (emergency medical services) with no transport needed.”

The chief confirmed that the passenger vehicle was totaled, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed.

Agencies responding to the scene included Meherrin Fire & Rescue and Virginia State Police (VSP), Pyle noted.

As of press time, a Wednesday evening request of VSP for information on the accident had not yielded a response.
