Alden Lee Hicks

Alden Lee Hicks, 86 of Farmville, VA died on April 16, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Anne Lewis Hicks, daughters, Leanne Terry and Teresa Schuster, son Jon Lewis Hicks, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Jean Gee, brother Charles M. Hicks and great grandson Declan Michael Barta.

He was born on December 4, 1932 to the late Hillary John and Edith Turner Hicks in Staley, NC. In his early years, Alden would help his dad with the family tobacco business. During his high school years, he made the commitment to become an ordained minister. After graduating Valedictorian of the Class of 1951 at Staley High School, he attended Campbell College and Wake Forest University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree before continuing his education and attaining the degree of “Master of Divinity” in 1970.

Reverend Hicks was the pastor of numerous churches during his ministry. He also served as Director of Missions for 11 years with the Pittsylvania Baptist Association, employed by the Virginia Baptist General Association for 4 years, interim Director of Missions for the Southside Baptist Association, interim pastor at numerous churches as well as multiple partnership mission trips around the world.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. in Heritage Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made payable to Heritage Baptist Church: Disaster Relief Fund, 700 Milnwood Rd., Farmville, VA 23901.

The family will receive visitors on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Puckett Funeral Home.
