Mike Roberts and the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation visited Fuqua School’s second and fifth-grade students. The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation was established in 1993 by NASCAR driver and winner of Daytona 500, Ward Burton because of his love for the outdoors and dedication to preserving wildlife and the environment. Students learned about animals that live or have lived in Virginia.

Roberts discussed the importance of conservation for each individual person and surrounding communities. He also talked about how important it is for children and adults, alike, to put down the electronics and go outside to explore and play.

About the educational purpose behind the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation, Roberts stated, “The presence of the foundation is an outreach effort to help young people understand that there is a great outdoors, expose them to it, and help develop their stewardship responsibilities to an environment that gives us pure air, clean water, food and shelter, but have fun while out in nature.” Pictured is Roberts.
