Children from school divisions around the area got to go on a sneetch hunt and try green eggs and ham — all without leaving their seats.

Longwood University held one of four children’s theater programs at Jarmon Hall Thursday.

Barbara Lawson, of Fishersville, re-enacted several works by Dr. Seuss, including The Sneetches, Green Eggs and Ham and Cat in the Hat. The performance was meant to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday March 2.

Lawson also got children involved by teaching them sign language phrases and using hand gestures and sound effects to add to the stories.

During the Cat in the Hat reading, students handed Lawson different styles of hats, which she used to change her personality while reading the story.
