Green book film screening

Moton Museum will have a screening of the award-winning film Green Book on Wednesday, March 20, at 6 p.m. followed by a discussion about the film and the history that surrounds it afterward.
Green Book starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen is about the real-life story of Don Shirley, an African-American classical and jazz pianist, and his driver and bodyguard Tony Vallelonga as they travel through the deep south on a musical tour. While the two initially clash they soon develop a close bond as they face danger, bigotry, and hardship in an era where who you loved and what you look like determined if you were accepted by those around you. This drama-comedy has won several awards for best picture and continues to be praised for both the performances of its actors and its message.
Doors for the movie will open at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free and the event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be available. For more information, visit http://www.motonmuseum.ord/calendar/
