BASKETBALL DEADLINE, Time to get your teams together. Adult basketball league registration began Feb. 1. Deadline for registration is March 8. Age groups are 18 and up. ORDINATION SERVICE, 5 p.m. at Mt. Zion 2nd Baptist Church for Brother Leon and Sister Patricia Williams as deacon and deaconess. We welcome you to come out for this blessed occasion. Remain with us to have a fellowship meal after the service.
MARCH MEETING, 10:30 a.m. of The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) at the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library, in Farmville. The guest speaker will be Helen Person. Topic: “Road Warriors: DAR and The American Highway.” There will also be the presentation of awards for the winners of the DAR “Good Citizen” essay contest.

DEACONS AND TRUSTEE ANNIVERSARY SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church. The guest choir for the service will be Soldiers in Christ. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road in Farmville. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor. All are welcome.
USHER’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church. Special guest will be the Reverend Dr. Charles Simms, Pastor, Morning Valley Baptist Church with choir and ushers. Lunch served following morning service.

38TH MASS CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at The Baptist Union Baptist Church,125 Baptist Union Road. Music will be rendered by the sensational Harmonizer Men Group from Lynchburg and the Gospel Music Workshop of America from Goochland. Master of ceremonies will be brother Chris Lewis. Dinner will be served following the morning service. All are welcome.
COMMUNITY TOWN HALL MEETING, 3 p.m. of The Cumberland County Landfill Alert (CCLA) group at the Cumberland County Community Center located at 11 Davenport Road, Cumberland. All are welcome to attend. Brunswick stew will be available for purchase following the meeting for a small donation to help fund our cause.

LECTURE SERIES, 7 p.m. The Profession of Social Work: Often Misunderstood by Dr. Theresa A. Clark, retired professor at Longwood. Talk will be held in the meeting room of the Barbara Rose Johns Library.

BAKED POTATO DINNER, 4:30-6:30 p.m. hosted by the Randolph District Fire Department and Auxiliary. Takeout available. Make a donation at the door for the meal, which supports the fire department. The fire house is located at 2145 Cumberland Road.

CELESTIAL SKIES EVENT, 7-8:30 p.m. at Sailor’s Creek. If you have your own telescope, bring it along. Kim Kenny, will provide a Powerpoint presentation on how you may also become a backyard astronomer studying the celestial sky. This program is free to the public.

MOAA TO MEET, 1 p.m. at Riverside Café in Farmville. Scott Miller, assistant director of VA Department of Veterans’ Services Cemetery Agency, who oversees the Amelia Cemetery, will share information about these services for veterans and spouses. A self-pay lunch will follow. All active, former and retired military officers and spouses are welcome to attend.
