Opportunity of a lifetime

Pastor Jeff Worley from Victory Baptist Church of Sprout Springs, on the third week of February, experienced the opportunity of a lifetime.

“As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for almost 40 years, I had the chance to visit the Holy Land. What a blessing in itself. It was awesome to go to the land where our Savior was born and lived upon this earth, but to walk-in places where Jesus walked was great! Our group visited many locations over a seven day span. I will share with you three stops from the trip that touched my heart. The first was the Sea of Galilee. We were taken out upon this body of water by boat. It was a blessing to be upon the body of water upon which our Savior did many miracles.

“The next place that blessed the preacher’s heart was the river of Jordan. This is the body of water mentioned many times in the Bible. It was in this river that John the Baptist baptized Jesus. This place was a blessing to me because I had a pastor friend baptize me in this river. What a blessing it was. The third place that I will speak of was perhaps the biggest blessing of all — at least to this man. It was the Garden Tomb, the place where Jesus was buried and arose from the grave. After going into the empty tomb for a short amount of time, it was coming out from this place that really blessed my heart. When I got to the door of the tomb, just before I was to step outside, I stopped. Some of the people behind me ask why I had stopped, what was wrong? I replied, nothing was wrong. I just realized that Jesus Christ, the son of God, stood in this spot many years ago on resurrection morning. Now that was a blessing.

“Many that have taken this trip before me have made this statement, ‘This trip changed my life.’ I now understand what they were saying. My life has changed after going to the Holy Land. The Bible is now more alive than ever before in my lifetime. When I read some passages of scripture, I can now say I have been there. If you ever get the opportunity to go to Israel, go. It will change your life.”
