Nora Lancaster Garden Club meeting

The Nora Lancaster Garden Club met Jan. 19 at the Barbara Rose Johns Library. Dr. Cynthia Wood, guest speaker, presented a culinary program entitled “Cooking with Herbs.” She explained the benefit of herbs in enhancing the flavors of foods, and served samples to the members to taste, describing each herb and its source. The sources ranged from herbs found in the woods to those found in specialty food stores. The foods served included a variety of appetizers, fruits, vegetables, meats and desserts. Wood concluded her presentation by encouraging club members to experiment with herbs not only to bring out the flavors in their foods but to add to their appearance.
