GUEST PREACHER, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 16 Horsepen Road, Farmville, will be the Rev. Cedric Gayles. Service is 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays. Service on the third Sunday is Hour of Power from 9-10 a.m.

MARCH 1

BOOK DRIVE, 4-7 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Library. Visit the library and go home with free books. Share a story with a group of kids. Ages 3-12 are welcome.

MARCH 2

PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church, 151 Nelson Lane. The Rev. Loretta Bailey will be the guest preacher. All are welcome.

BROWN BAG FELLOWSHIP, 11 a.m. at Guthrie Memorial Chapel, 2663 Cumberland Road, Farmville. Bring your own sandwich, snack or fruit lunch to be enjoyed in fellowship afterward at noon. Call (434) 315-1735 for questions.

PAMPLIN BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. This month features PALS annual Mardi Gras celebration.

SERVICES, 9:45 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church for bible study and 11 a.m. for worship service.

GUEST PREACHER, 11 a.m. will be Minister Barbara M. Reed at Calvary Baptist Church, Sandy River Road, Burkeville.

QUARTER AUCTION, 1:30 p.m. at Bacon District Fire Department, Wylliesburg. Admission includes one paddle for bidding. Additional paddles may be purchased. Concessions will be available and will benefit Charlotte County Relay for Life. Bring your friends and plenty of Quarters for bidding.

THE CHURCH PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Route 60, Cumberland. Special guests will include the Sharon Baptist Church Combined Choir.

PROGRAM, 3 p.m. entitled “Fruit of the Spirit” sponsored by the Pastor’s Aid Ministry of Jericho Baptist Church presented by the Deacons and Trustees. Music will be provided by The New Store Inspirational choir. Jericho Baptist Church is located at 615 Franklin St., Farmville. The Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor, III is the Pastor.

CURDSVILLE COMMUNITY CENTER MEETING, 6:30 p.m. The program will be presented by Amy White of the Buckingham library. She will discuss the plans for the new library. Bring friends and family.

FILM SERIES, 7 p.m. Showing will be “The Post” at the Gilmer Hall, Room 019 as part of the Hampden-Sydney Rhetoric Program’s 40th anniversary film series.

TUGGLE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING, 6:30 p.m. at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on Tuggle Road, in the upper room.

LENTEN SERVICES/ FREE LUNCHEON, noon-1 p.m. at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church. The theme this year is “Season of Joy and Gladness.” The speaker will be the Rev. Rick Bucher. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome. The church is located at 1 Stony Point Road in Cumberland (across from the courthouse.)

ASH WEDNESDAY, 6 p.m. at Farmville Baptist Church.

ARTIST TALK, 7 p.m. by artist Emma Steinkraus at the Thompson Commons in Brinkley Hall, Hampden-Sydney College.

DO YOU NEED A RIDE, Senior veterans age 60 and older can get a ride to McGuire Veterans Affairs Hospital in Richmond. Make your appointment with the VA and call Piedmont Senior Resources at (434) 767- 5588.

QUARTERLY MEETING, 7 p.m. of the Cumberland Deacons and Trustees Conference at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 1193 Cartersville Road, Cartersville. Deacons and Trustees of member churches are urged to attend.

NIGHT OF PRAISE, 7-8:30 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church led by the students of the Judson University Choir, located outside of Chicago, as they visit Farmville on their spring tour. Their ministry focus is to be a worship-leading ensemble, whose concerts feature specific narrative arcs, opportunities for congregational participation, a diverse repertoire, and the use of a wide variety of instrumental accompaniment. This night of praise is for the whole family. Children are welcome. There will be a love offering collected during the evening.

BASKETBALL DEADLINE, Time to get your teams together. Adult basketball league registration began Feb. 1. Deadline for registration is March 8. Age groups are 18 and up. FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 11 a.m. at Old Green Creek Baptist Church. Dress casual. The Rev. Samuel Trent is pastor. All are welcome.

DEACONS AND TRUSTEE ANNIVERSARY SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church. The guest choir for the service will be Soldiers in Christ. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road in Farmville. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor. All are welcome.

USHER’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church. Special guest will be the Reverend Dr. Charles Simms, Pastor, Morning Valley Baptist Church with choir and ushers. Lunch served following morning service.

LECTURE SERIES, 7 p.m. The Profession of Social Work: Often Misunderstood by Dr. Theresa A. Clark, retired professor at Longwood. Talk will be held in the meeting room of the Barbara Rose Johns Library.

MARCH 12

HOW TO MANAGE FALLS CLASS, 10 a.m.- noon at the SCOPE Center, 505 Griffin Blvd., Farmville. Classes will be held once a week on Tuesdays for eight weeks. For more information, call (434) 767-5588. Sponsored by Piedmont Senior Resources.

BAKED POTATO DINNER, 4:30-6:30 p.m. hosted by the Randolph District Fire Department and Auxiliary. Takeout available. Make a donation at the door for the meal, which supports the fire department. The fire house is located at 2145 Cumberland Road.

TALK REAL, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at 3875 S. James Madison Hwy., Farmville. This is a Christian based open discussion about various topics facing teens everyday lives. Ages 13-18.
