Officials added that a memorial service for Alex is planned for Saturday at 11 a.m. on campus at College Church.

Immediately following the service, there will be a reception at Brown Student Center, the release cited.

The release also highlighted that Theta Chi planned to hold a vigil Friday evening.

“Please keep the Byrne family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning,” officials said in the release. “We are also sending prayers of healing to our students who remain hospitalized and their families and friends.”
The release also addressed the encouragement and support the H-SC community has received from others.

“Many in the extended Hampden-Sydney family have reached out to offer support,” officials said. “Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”

Important contact information was made available at the end of the release. Questions about the service can be directed to the Rev. Keith Leach, college chaplain, at (434) 223-6269 or kleach@hsc.edu.
