Welcoming the new year

As we welcome in 2019 let us remember all the good things God has given us this past year and ask him to be with us in all things during 2019.

The Prospect Historical Society will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for its regular monthly meeting at the Prospect Fire Station. Come and join the group.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows spent the Christmas holidays at Virginia Beach with their daughter and family, Julie and Andy Shotwell, Josh and Kate Shotwell. On Christmas Eve, Betty Meadows and Julie Shotwell visited with Nikki Shotwell and daughter, Belle, in their home. Belle is the infant great-granddaughter of Meadows.

Richard and Margaret Stockton entertained Lon and Mary Jo Stockton along with their son Sean on Christmas Day. This was a fun filled afternoon. Richard and Margaret celebrated their 58th anniversary on Dec. 26.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith enjoyed having Christmas dinner with their son, Charles and daughter-in-law, Dianna along with their children, Christina, Charles Jr. and Brianna and her daughters, Natalie and Abigail.

On Dec. 26, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Stafford to visit his mother, Dolores Smith.

Flora Bolt attended the Bolt Christmas get together on Christmas Eve at the home of Judy Bolt. They enjoyed dinner, gift giving and fellowship. Others attending were: Chris and Alexa Bolt; Trae and Jennifer Jones and son Thomas; Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt; Steve Bolt, Sharon Canterbury, Ashley Bolt, Ron Poythress, Haley and Payden Murdock; Michaela Atkins; Neal Fisher; and Jeni Bolt and sons Joshua and Jacob.

Flora Bolt was the luncheon guest of her son Steve Bolt and his daughter Ashley Bolt on Christmas Day. Also visiting were Sharon Canterbury, Ron Ponthress. Haley and Payden Murdock returned home in time for lunch.

Flora Bolt has a new great grandson, Wyatt Hasten Scott Goss. Wyatt was born the Dec. 20, in the Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg. He is the son of Stacy and Andrew Goss of Appomattox; grandson of Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt and Scott and Karen Goss of Charlottesville. Prayers are needed for Wyatt as he is still in the University of Virginia hospital.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle welcomes you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect welcomes you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with Worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville welcomes you to worship with them Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday evenings for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

The Remnant Church welcomes you to worship with them Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.; Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer. The church is located at 1825 E. Third St., Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building.

Concord Baptist Church at 12053 Francisco Road, Farmville welcomes you to their Sunday School at 10 a.m., with worship service at 11 a.m.
