GUEST PREACHER, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 16 Horsepen Road, Farmville, will be the Rev. Cedric Gayles. Service is 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays. Service on third Sundays is Hour of Power from 9-10 a.m.

JANUARY 5

BROWN BAG FELLOWSHIP LUNCH, 11 a.m. at Guthrie Memorial Chapel, 2663 Cumberland Road, Farmville. Bring your own sandwich, snack or fruit lunch to be enjoyed in fellowship afterward at noon. Call (434) 315-1735 for more information.

PAMPLIN BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. at the Pamplin Depot featuring the Falling River Band playing your country favorites. Bring the family for a full course catered meal prepared by Chef Tim.

FORBIDDEN CITY TALK, 3 p.m. for Central Virginia Arts at Hampden-Sydney Atkinson Gallery. Speaker will be William Neer, VMFA Curatorial Assistant for Exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

GUEST MINISTER, 11 a.m. at The First Rock Baptist Church of Prospect will be the Rev. Preston Little of Lynchburg.

JANUARY 7

MONDAY MOVIE MATINEE, 11 a.m. at Farmville Library. Bring some snacks or lunch. This week: A Wrinkle in Time.

CRAFT OR GAMES, 5-7 p.m. at Farmville and Buckingham libraries for teens ages 13-18. This week: no-sew flannel blankets or pillows to keep cozy.

JANUARY 8

FREE HEALTH AND WELLNESS EVENT, 1-3 p.m. at Maysville Baptist Church sponsored by Farmville Health and Rehabilitation center. Light refreshments provided. For more information, contact Tiffany at (434) 969-4242.

BEEKEEPERS TO MEET, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office across from Lowe’s in Farmville. Sign-ups for the Bee School and other information will be featured. STORY AND CRAFT TIME, 11 a.m. at the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library, on Main Street in Appomattox. A Library employee will read an age appropriate book followed by a simple craft project. This program lasts approximately 30 minutes.

BABY STORY TIME, 9:30-10 a.m. at Farmville library. A new program for caregivers with babies 0-24 months. Come bond and learn together with singing and bouncing, share a board book, and enjoy some play time with other babies.

PRESCHOOL STORY TIME, 10:30-11:15 a.m. at Farmville library for children ages 2.1/2-5 and an adult caregiver can join us to share picture books, songs and an activity.

CVA NEW BEGINNINGS PARTY AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING, 3 p.m. at the home of Sandra Breil, 608 First Ave., Farmville. Members are requested to bring a savory or a sweet bite. Please contact Leslie Dennison or Lois Thomas if you are planning to bring a treat.

JANUARY 14

SUNBONNET SUE STITCHERS, 10 a.m. will meet in the conference room of the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library, on Main Street in Appomattox. They are a knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing and cross stitch group that meets every other Monday to exchange patterns, teach skills and share in good conversation. Everyone welcome.

JANUARY 15

WOMEN PRAYING THROUGH CANCER, 6 p.m. If you are a lady, who currently has or is a cancer survivor, you are welcome to join us. We meet in the conference room of the Jamerson Memorial Library, located on Main Street in Appomattox.

PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church will be commemorating the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Guest speaker, Dr. Rev. Earl Pendleton, Assistant Pastor of Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church, Charlottesville. The Buckingham Community Choir rendering music. Lunch will be served.

JANUARY 29

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP, 3:30-4:30 p.m. at Centra PACE, 1530 South Main St., Farmville. Offered by Centra PACE this program offers a caregiver support group to help caregivers. Angela Edmonds, clinical social worker with Centra PACE will facilitate the meeting. You do not need to be part of the PACE program to attend.

JANUARY 31

TASTE OF FARMVILLE, 5-8 p.m. sponsored by The Rotary Club of Farmville at the Fireman’s Sports Arena. If you would like to have a booth, email admin@ farmvilleareachamber. org for more information.

FEBRUARY 12, 19 & 26

BEEKEEPER’S SCHOOL, 7-9 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office. A hands-on session is tentatively planned for a date to be announced since it is weather-dependent. Cost will include all classes and two books. Pre-registration is required. Grant money is available. Classes are presented by the Heart of Virginia Beekeepers.
