Cheyne speaks on climate and weather

A Friends of the Library lecture series will be held Monday at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville Library. The topic of this lecture is Climate and Weather: You Like It or Not by Dr. Stanley A. Cheyne, professor of Physics & Astronomy at Hampden-Sydney College.

Weather is one of the few topics that is of interest—at least to some degree—to almost everyone. A winter storm or passing hurricane remnant has the ability to put normal activities on hold while bringing family and communities together. Central Virginia’s location between mountains to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east provides the Piedmont with a wide variety of weather. These varied weather patterns will be explored along with past notable storms.

All talks will be held in the meeting room at 7 p.m. following the Friends of the Library Board meetings.
