Lancers fall 64-45 to visiting Eagles

Longwood University’s women’s basketball team held strong in the first half Saturday afternoon against visiting Eastern Michigan University, but the Eagles pulled away in the second half for a 64-45 victory that dropped the Lancers to 1-6 on the season. Longwood trailed only 26-24 at halftime before the second-half surge from the Eagles (6-2) sent them to their third straight win. The Lancers, despite suffering their fourth straight loss, had some standouts, as junior guard/forward Dayna Rouse, pictured above, scored a game-high 17 points to go with nine rebounds and two blocks. Longwood sophomore guard/forward Mallory Odell added 10 points and eight rebounds. The Lancers face East Carolina University on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
