I recently received a flyer from Mechanicsville with the U.S. Postal permit issued in Hebron, Kentucky. It concerned the proposed landfill for Cumberland County. My first reaction was, “just what we need – someone from out of the county sticking their nose in our business!”

The proposed landfill is still in the discussion phase but the flyer predicts doom and gloom, purporting that our drinking water is at risk. And, just like Chicken Little “the sky is falling!” I wonder why the sky didn’t fall in Chesterfield, Amelia and Farmville when they put in their landfill? The flyer is filled with misinformation and innuendo.

I would urge everyone who received these flyers to ask, as Jack Webb on Dragnet would say, “Just the facts Ma’am, just the facts.”
