Start off 2019 with a fun “History Hike” at Staunton River State Park on Jan. 1 from 10 a.m.-noon. Officials will take a hike on the River Bank Trail and talk about the exciting history of the Staunton River and its beautiful state park. If anyone’s New Years resolution is to get outdoors more, be healthier or just spend more time with friends and family, then this is the perfect way to kick-start the year.
The Riverbank Trail is an easy-to-moderate hiking trail and is perfect for beginners or for those who have been hiking all their lives. The hike will be approximately two miles. Be sure to bring plenty of warm clothes, a drink of water and maybe a small snack. Pets are welcome. For more information, call (434) 572-3694.
