The Longwood University chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) has received the prestigious Order of Sigma award according to a press release.
The Order of Sigma award is the highest honor of NSLS’s Pillar Program, reserved for those chapters who successfully complete all 10 pillars in the administration of their chapters. Based on the 10 best practices of a healthy chapter, the National Office developed the program to help set each chapter up for long-term success and sustainability.
“As an organization, we are passionate about giving back to our community and enhancing the leadership skills of our members,” said Chelsea Moore, Society President.
NSLS provides a leadership development program consisting of Orientation, Leadership Training Day, three Speaker Broadcasts, three Success Networking Team meetings and an Induction Ceremony where students receive their Certificate of Leadership Training upon completion of the above requirements.
Shahla Akbari, Director of Chapter Support for NSLS, adds, “It takes planning, hard work, and dedication for Chapter Leaders to achieve this standard of excellence. This achievement demonstrates a very high level of commitment toward running a quality leadership program for our members.”
NSLS is the nation’s largest leadership honor society, where students are selected for membership based on their academic achievements, campus and community involvement, and a cumulative GPA of a 3.0. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. In addition to scholarships and awards, lifetime membership provides access to benefits including exclusive on-campus events, employer recruitment through an online job bank, discounts on computers, textbooks, grad school prep courses, insurance, and much more.
The National Society of Leadership and Success was founded in 2001 to build a community of like-minded, success-oriented leaders who come together to help one another succeed. NSLS offers interactive broadcasts with the nation’s top leaders, training in goal setting, and team meetings in which students set and hold each other accountable for achieving goals. Today, NSLS has over three-quarters of a million members on nearly 600 college and university campuses nationwide.
