Bird Club to conduct winter bird counts
Published 8:34 am Friday, December 28, 2018
Join members and friends of the Margaret Watson Bird Club to conduct two local Bird Counts this winter. We meet and break up into small groups to cover a section of the territory and meet up back in the afternoon. Bring a lunch, water, snacks, binoculars and very warm clothes.
You can help with this worthwhile project by consistently putting out seed in your feeders now and for the next 2-3 weeks to help bring birds into our survey territory (an approximate 10 mile radius from the meeting location). The data is then tabulated and submitted to the Virginia Society of Ornithology.
The first event will be held Saturday. Meet at Sandy River Reservoir boat ramp at 7 a.m. Bring lunch, snacks and water. On Jan. 6 meet at Darlington Heights Fire House at 7 a.m., at the west parking lot. Dinner will be held at T. Well’s home at 5 p.m.
