Andrew David Jamerson

Born June 13, 1926 in Buckingham County, Virginia, Dave was raised on the family farm, instilled with the values of hard work, kindness, honesty, and love for all. Throughout his life, he exhibited these qualities.

During World War II, he worked for DuPont before returning to school to complete his studies. He served on the front lines in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he married the love of his life and provided for his family, ending his career as the Superintendent for VDOT. Upon retirement, he devoted his time to helping others. He was known by many for his endearing nature and joyful smile.

Dave loved to hunt, and was known as “Crockett” by his hunting buddies. He always had stories to tell, songs for every occasion, and old-fashioned sayings the family called “Dave-isms.” He lived life to the fullest, and his great memory never failed him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mattie Jamerson; his wife, Phyllis A. Jamerson; and his granddaughter, Melissa Jamerson. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Andrew D. Jamerson, Jr. (Dolores); daughters Susan J. Schaubach (Tom), and Kathryn A. Jamerson (Kevin); grandchildren, Kevin Jamerson (Amy), Brandon Ellington (Brittni), Kirsten Bowen (Bobby), and Mackenzie Schaubach; four great-grandchildren; and special friend, Ruth Sprouse.

Funeral services will be held on December 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn, Virginia, followed by interment with military honors at Cedar Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
