Tigers fall 48-35 to Randolph-Macon in ‘The Game’

The Hampden-Sydney College football team fell 48-35 in the regular season finale and the 123rd meeting of “The Game” on Saturday afternoon against archrival Randolph-Macon College.

The Tigers still lead the series 60-52-11.

The Tigers end their season at 4-5 overall and 4-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Yellow Jackets finish the regular season at 8-2 and a league-best 6-1 conference mark.

The offenses both put up good yardage with Randolph-Macon going for 464 yards compared to the Tigers’ 411, but the Yellow Jackets were able to control the game with nearly 44 minutes of possession to the Tigers’ 16.

Randolph-Macon led 21-0 at halftime and 41-14 after three quarters. However, Hampden-Sydney did give the large crowd of fans on hand a few last moments to cheer about this season, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 21-7 in the fourth quarter.
