Bundle up for the cold winter season and join the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., for the annual Winter Wonderland Free Family Workshop. LCVA’s Lower Level will be transformed into a wintry forest scene. Take a stroll through a winter wonderland decorated with woodland animals and sparkly snowflakes while children visit multiple art activity stations along the way.
The workshop contains a variety of holiday-themed arts and crafts activities the whole family will enjoy, as well as light refreshments. Supplies and plenty of smiling and skilled volunteers will be on hand. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Want to get a little holiday shopping done while you are at the workshop? For the first time the LCVA will be the host site for the Longwood Art Department fourth annual Design in Craft Holiday Sale. The sale will take place Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the LCVA. Items in the sale include handcrafted ceramics, stained glass, jewelry and more by students. A portion of the proceeds goes to helping Farmville Area Community Emergency Service to provide food for families in need and the Student Collective Art Scholarship fund to benefit Longwood University art students. During the sale there will be an ugly holiday sweater contest and a Design in Craft raffle with various prizes.
