Community partnership helps those in need

Several weeks ago, volunteers of area Buckingham organizations met with Stephanie Coleman, Director of Social Services, to discuss ways of communicating and pooling gifts and talents in helping folks in need.
On Saturday, Sept. 29, the James River Baptist Association’s annual “Ministry Blitz” was joined by volunteers from Spreading God’s Gifts, Frida’s Restaurant, Buckingham Habitat Build and eight churches. The groups built a new handicap ramp, as well as repaired a badly-damaged one with the combined help of 30 volunteers. Wayne Davenport and Ralph Dunnavent were the construction supervisors.
The Community Partnership program will continue to help Social Services as they assist those in need. For more information on this program, contact the Department of Social Services at (434) 969-4246.
