W. ‘Wollert’ Henrik Krohn

W. “Wollert” Henrik Krohn, 91 of Farmville passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Woodland. He was born on September 18, 1927 in Bud I Romsdal, Norway to Johan Jebsen and Elisabeth Bang-Lochen Krohn.
He grew up in Stavanger, Norway during the German occupation in WWII and was educated there. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Leeds, England. It was there he met his future wife, Else Nilsen of Moss, Norway. They were married in 1955 and moved to Drammen, Norway where he worked for Den Norske Papirfiltfabrik. They emigrated to the United States in 1958. He went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received a masters degree and went to work for Huyck Felt Corporation/Weavexx where he worked until retirement.
Henrik and Else were happily married for 54 years and had three children. He was a member of the Lion’s Club in New York and Virginia for many years. He was especially proud of the three US patents he received and enjoyed being the caretaker of his “gentleman’s farm” in Farmville for over 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marie, Dankert and Else and his wife, Else. He is survived by his children, Claus Fredrik Krohn of Richmond, VA, Joan H. Krohn (Ron Muller) of Glen Ellen, California and Marie E. Krohn-Polsinello of Farmville, VA, his dear partner, Opal Jania of Farmville, grandchildren, Dawn Polsinello and Henrik and Jakob Krohn-Muller and one great grandchild, Zachary Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 10 a.m. in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family. www.puckettfh.com.
