Installation service at Third Liberty Baptist

Pastor-Elect Kippy L. Lundy will be installed as Third Liberty Baptist Church Pastor on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Lundy has been a blessing to the congregation, and the members feel honored to have him and First Lady Cynthia and their daughter, Cierra Lundy, serve their church. Dr. Robert E. Williams Sr., of The Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church of Richmond, will give the installation sermon.

Glenda Harris, co-President of the Buckingham Dillwyn Garden Club has been invited to exhibit at the Arts and Flowers Exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts during Oct. 24-28. Garden Club members throughout Virginia are invited to design a floral arrangement depicting an interpretation of an art piece at the museum. Admission is free for this exhibit. Members of the Buckingham Dillwyn Garden Club will be attending a special program and luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Buckingham has youth who are interested in joining a 4-H Shooting Education Club focusing on the shotgun discipline. On Nov. 12, the Buckingham Elementary and Primary Schools are having a Veteran’s Day program from 8:30-10:45 a.m. The students will perform for community veterans and show their patriotism. The public is welcome to attend.

Buckingham County Primary and Elementary Schools will hold a Red Ribbon Week during Oct. 27 through Nov. 2, emphasizing the anti-drug/ drug awareness campaign. The spirit days include a kick off Friday, Oct. 26, where students are encouraged to wear red. On Monday, Oct. 29, students will dress to impress to show drugs that they mean business. Decades day/tie-dye will be on Tuesday, Oct. 30, to show that drugs are a thing of the past. Halloween/fall colors will be featured on Wednesday, Oct. 31, where students can say “Boo” to drugs. Sports team theme will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, to team up against drugs. And finally, Friday, Nov. 2, will be Hawaiian/tropics day for students to encourage others to “lei” off drugs.

SPIN Clubs are special interest clubs where youth gather with two or more caring adults for six meetings to learn about a particular area. A pre-arranged curriculum is available, or you can come up with your own idea. Training for adult volunteers is available. Join afternoon activities at the Buckingham Public Library. On Thursdays, featured is the Lego Club from 4-5:30 p.m. Children can enjoy arts and crafts, as well as game time. The library is located at 1140 Main St. in Dillwyn.
