Participants of the Moton Family Challenge Rainbow Tea and Hat Show on Saturday, Oct. 20, displayed all colors of the rainbow, and more, through a hat show and dinner.

Proceeds from the event went to the Moton Family Challenge scholarship, where a series of families and friends compete to the raise the most money for scholarships to honor those affected by the public school closings in Prince Edward County from 1959-1964.
Chair of the Moton Family Challenge, Joy Cabarrus Speakes, said the scholarship, in its eighth year, awards a $2,500 scholarship for its winners, which can be renewed for up to three years after it is initially awarded.
Groups of people sat at tables representing each color of the rainbow: blue, indigo, violet, red, orange, yellow and green.
The hat show took place with flying colors, and approximately 12 women participated posing with beautiful hats and even greater confidence.
