OCTOBER 19

HARVEST MOON CHAMPAGNE AND CHOCOLATE GALA, 6-8 p.m. at Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Public Library, 1303 W. Third St., Farmville. This gala supports children’s programming at the Farmville and Buckingham branches of the Central Virginia Regional Library. Tickets are available at both branches.

COMMUNITY TOWN HALL, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. at The Woodland for an open forum and discussion. This event is sponsored by Centra. Event is free and lunch will be provided.

SPECIAL PERFORMANCE, 7:30 p.m. of The Richmond Symphony Orchestra at the Jarman Auditorium stage at Longwood University for a special performance celebrating the works of composers Ludwig van Beethoven and Leonard Bernstein.

CRUISE-IN, 4 p.m. of the Heart of Virginia Classic Auto Club at Hampden-Sydney College, 198 Athletic Center Drive. Free and open to the public. All makes and models of cars welcomed.

OCTOBER 19-20

FALL BOOK SALE, 11 a.m.– 4 p.m. at Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Public Library, 1303 W. Third St., Farmville. Select a bag of books for a small fee.

OCTOBER 20

WOMEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church. The guest minister will be Minister Vanessa Phillips.

FUNDRAISER, 4-8 p.m. Chicken and pork barbecue dinner sponsored by the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Come out and support your volunteer fire.

CANCELLATION, of the concert/dinner scheduled for Fitzgerald Memorial Baptist Church.

MISSIONS YARD SALE, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 6800 S. Genito Road, Jetersville. Rain or Shine.

DAY OF WALKING AND WELLNESS, 8:45 a.m. at High Bridge Trail State Park complete with prizes and family activities to benefit the Andy Taylor Center Scholarship Fund. Walk will begin at the intersection of Main Street and High Bridge Trail State Park.

PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church, 151 Nelson Lane, Charlotte. Speaker will be Minister Rosa Bedford. All are welcome.

OCTOBER 21

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Booker Jr, of Mt. Dowell Baptist Church of McConnell, South Carolina. Mt. Nebo Baptist Choir will render the music.

GUEST PREACHER, 11 a.m. will be the Rev. Remmie Chew of Richmond at Forest Baptist Church of Meherrin. All are welcome to attend.

MISSIONARY ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Baptist Union Baptist Church, 125 Baptist Union Road, Dillwyn. Minister Joseph Patterson and The Voices of Judah will be in concert. Missionaries are asked to wear white. All are welcome.

ANNUAL WOMEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. Guest minister will be Minister Vanessa Phillips. This year’s theme is “Let’s Talk About an Unfair Trade” with the scripture reference Isaiah 61:1-3. All are welcome.

PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church, Rice, entitled “The 9 Fruits of the Spirit.” A guest choir will render the music. All are welcome.

22ND ANNIVERSARY, 4 p.m. for Pastor and First Lady the Rev. Dr. Maurice and Beatrice Finney. The Rev. Russell Lee, pastor of Chapel Grove Baptist of Evington will be the guest preacher accompanied by his choir, ushers and church family. A repast will be served. All are welcome.

GUEST MINISTER, 11 a.m. at The First Rock Baptist Church of Prospect with Evangelist Lillian Johnson.

SENIOR CITIZENS APPRECIATION SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church, 1913 Tuggle Road. Guest Minister will be Minister Richard Goode. There will be gifts for senior citizens and a light meal for all. All are welcome. The Rev. Stanley Wesley is pastor.

TENTH CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the New Bethel Baptist Church Community Men’s Chorus at the church, 14167 Farmville Road, Meherrin. Special guest in concert will be The Soul Seekers from Mechanicsville. Dinner will be served.

PORK BBQ MEAL, 11 a.m –5 p.m. sponsored by The Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Group at Southworth Power, 1273 Anderson Hwy. (Rt 60), Cumberland.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY DAY, 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Booker. Jr., of Mt. Dowell Baptist Church of McConnell, South Carolina will preside over the service and Mt Nebo Baptist Choir will render the music.

PROGRAM TO HONOR HUGH KENNEDY 4-6 p.m. at the Moton Museum, 900 Griffin Blvd., Farmville, for his devoted service to the Museum as treasurer from 1999 to 2011. Spoken words of commendation, light refreshments and presentation of a large check to the Museum in Hugh’s honor. Join us.

SENIOR CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Ellis Baptist Church, 8409 George Washington Hwy., Keysville. The Broad Rock Male Choir from Richmond will be the guest musicians. Everyone is welcome.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Pamplin. Preaching will be the Rev. Otis Johnson, his choir and ushers of the Peaks Baptist Church, Prospect.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO MEET, 2 p.m. at the Cumberland County Museum and Visitor’s Center (Old Clerk’s Office) in the village. Speaker will be Muriel Miller Branch. The display in the museum is on the old schools of Cumberland County.

WALK TO REMEMBER, 3-4 p.m. in the first floor conference room at Centra Southside Community Hospital, 800 Oak St., Farmville. Participate and plant a bulb in the Baby Memorial Garden.

OCTOBER 28

GUEST PREACHER, 11 a.m. will be the Rev. Remmie Chew of Richmond at Forest Baptist Church of Meherrin. All are welcome to attend.

EMPTY BOWLS FUNDRAISER, 4 p.m. sponsored by the Longwood University Office of Citizen Leadership and Social Justice Education (CLSJE) in the Moton Museum Auditorium. All proceeds go toward the Virginia Extension Cooperative. Several different types of soups will be available.

ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZEN SERVICE, 2:30 p.m. at Flat Rock Baptist Church of Prospect. The Rev. Leon Jackson, pastor of the Zion Hill Baptist Church will be the guest minister. The Monroe Baptist Church Choir will render the music.
