Nora Lancaster Garden Club begins a new year

The Nora Lancaster Garden Club met Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 18, at the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library with Helen Smith, President, presiding. Member Becky Kelly presented an informative program entitled, “Let’s Get Started – Arrangement Refresher and New Member Class.” Highlights from her presentation included preparation, list of gardener’s tools, tips on horticulture and pointers for exhibiting arrangements.

Helen Smith recognized Judy O’Steen and Brenda Puryear for receiving the most points and as the recipients of the Nora Lancaster Club Award for 2017-2018.

The Frances Paulette Community Service Award is given to the member who earns the most points during the year for volunteer community service in the following categories. These categories include participation in beautification projects, arrangements for noncompetitive use, teach youth or non-club members to beautify with flowers, program given to other clubs, and serve as judge for competitive flower arrangements. Members Becky Kelly and Judy O’Steen received the Frances Paulette Community Service Award having earned the same number of points last year.
