Donations needed for auction

The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department is busying preparing for its Annual Harvest Sale, Saturday, Oct. 6. Do you have anything you want to get rid of? If so, call a member of the fire department, they need items for the auction.

The Prospect Historical Society met Sept. 4, at the Prospect Fire House. During the meeting the Society made their outgoing President Fred Floyd an honorary member at which time they presented him a resolution and awarded him the title of “President Emeritus.” Floyd served as president for 20 continuous years.

The Prospect Historical Society will once again hold the Christmas decorating contest. The deadline for getting your application in is Dec. 4. Judging will take place the next week.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith joined his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith for dinner at “Cruise In” in Keysville Friday evening.

Joshua Bolt celebrated his 17th birthday with a party at the home of his parents Sunday, Sept. 2. His birthday was Aug. 31. Those helping Joshua celebrate were his parents Kyle and Jeni Bolt; his brother Jacob Bolt, grandparents Flora Bolt and Vince and Linda Eikmeier of Richmond, as well as Doug and Betty Bolt, Judy Bolt, Jennifer Jones and son Thomas, Sharon Canterbury of Appomattox, and Dennis and Patty Jones of Pamplin. Grandmother Linda made Joshua a cake with miniature bananas on it. Joshua received many useful gifts.

Sunday, Sept. 2, there was no electricity at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church, services were held as usual. Judy Bolt had as her guest for lunch Peggy Kelsey, Jennifer Jones and Thomas, Steve Bolt, Sharon Canterbury and Flora Bolt.

The Southall-Woodson Family reunion was held Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Fellowship Hall of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle. The reunion this year was in honor of the late Bob and Mae East Southall and Wallace and Margie Woodson. Gene Southall was the host and Flora Bolt served as co-host. Twenty-five were present. The crowd was smaller this year as they had lost seven members. Those present had a very enjoyable time.

Judy Bolt hosted a luncheon on the Sept. 9, following church services in honor of her son, Chris Bolt for his birthday Sept.10. Those attending the celebration for Chris were Alexa Moser, Jennifer Jones and Thomas, Flora Bolt, Steve Bolt, Sharon Canterbury, Ashley Bolt, Haley and Payden Murdock, Ron Poythress and daughters Jordyn and Hannah, Jeni Bolt, Jacob Bolt and Wallace Woodson of Henrico.

Gary Hall of Darlington Heights visited Flora Bolt and family Saturday, Sept. 1. He brought Flora a beautiful vase of his zinnias.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle welcomes you to worship with them each Sunday. Lewis Brandt will be with them this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect welcomes you to come and worship with them every Sunday. Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with Worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Robert Hall will be with them Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville welcomes you to worship with them Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and each week Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

The Remnant Church welcomes you to worship with them Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m., Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer. The church is located at 1825 E. Third St., Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building.

Concord Baptist Church at 12053 Francisco Road, Farmville will have Sunday School at 10 a.m. with Worship service at 11 a.m.
