SEPTEMBER 8
BAKED POTATO DINNER, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Randolph Fire Department, 2145 Cumberland Road. Menu will be baked potatoes, salad, desserts, coffee and iced tea. Donate at the door to support the fire department.
100 MEN IN BLACK PROGRAM, 3 p.m. sponsored by The Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Jericho Baptist Church, 615 Franklin St., Farmville. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Cavell Phillips, Assistant Pastor of the Richmond Christian Center. Theme will be “Dressed for the Test” (Ephesians 6:10—17). The event will benefit Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
CUMBERLAND COMMUNITY MARKET, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Payne Memorial Methodist Church at 1 Stoney Point Road in Cumberland across from the Court House. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. 101ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION, 11 a.m., hosted by the Robert Russa Moton Museum in partnership with First Baptist Church, to honor the Rev. L. Francis Griffin. The Reverend Griffin’s youngest son, the Reverend Eric Griffin, pastor of Saint Stephen United Church of Christ in Greensboro, North Carolina, will deliver the morning’s message. Everyone welcome.

HOMECOMING, 10:45 a.m. at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church of Prospect, 136 Harris Creek Road, Prospect. Following the service there will be a covered dish luncheon and fellowship time to meet and chat with friends. At 2 p.m. Mark Bishop, noted Southern Gospel performer, will be in concert. The public is welcome.
SEPTEMBER 16-20
MUSIC REVIVAL, 2 p.m. at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church, 146 Harris Creek Road, Prospect. Mark Bishop will kick things off with a one-hour concert, following the Homecoming Service and meal. Monday through Thursday nights, various singers and groups will perform. Nightly services begin at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome.
HOMECOMING/REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Dillwyn, with Pastor Michael Mosley bringing forth the morning message and the mass choir rendering music. Fellowship dinner will be served. Services will convene Sunday afternoon with prayer and praise service beginning at 2:30 p.m. and worship service at 3 p.m. Afternoon preacher will be Pastor Kevin Caleb of the Thessalonia Baptist Church of Fork Union accompanied by his choir and church family. Revival will begin Monday with prayer and praise service at 7 p.m. and worship service at 7:30 p.m. Different choirs each night.
