Hicks named Superintendent

Dr. Daisy Hicks has been appointed as the next superintendent of Buckingham County Public Schools (BCPS) according to a press release. The release went on to say “Her new position will be effective Sept. 10. Dr. Hicks currently serves as the Director of Human Resources, Operations and Testing in Nottoway County Public Schools. She has also worked in Buckingham County, Cumberland County, Brunswick County, Prince Edward County and Amelia County Public Schools.”

“I am excited, honored, and humbled to be selected as the new superintendent of Buckingham County Public Schools and look forward to collaborating with the school board, staff, parents and community,” said Hicks, “I am committed to providing all students with an exceptional educational experience.”

The release further cited, “Thomas Hutcherson, chairman of the Buckingham County School Board, believes Dr. Hicks will be a great fit for the division. He stated, “We welcome Dr. Hicks to Buckingham County Public Schools. Her leadership and experience will be a great asset to the community and to the school division.”

Dr. Hicks earned a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University, an Education Specialist Degree from Cambridge College, a master’s degree in Instruction from Central Michigan University and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Saint Paul’s College.”

The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) assisted the Buckingham County school board with the superintendent search process.
