Dorothy Beasley Kirby, 90, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She was born on January 14, 1928 in Buckingham County, Virginia to the late William Houston and Ruth Dunkum Beasley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Odell J. Kirby and a sister, Elizabeth B. Williams. Dorothy “Dot” was very involved in her church and always loved the children. For many years she was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Buckingham where she was an active member of the WMU. After her husband’s death she decided to join Freedom Word Church in Spout Spring, Virginia where she and her sister were very involved. She loved the Lord and was a true witness to all she met.

Dot is survived by two sisters, Estelle B. Townsend and Rebecca B. Baldwin both of Buckingham, nieces Glenda S. Woodall (David), Debbie B. Luna (Grey), and Angela T. Jacobs (Dennis), a nephew Donnie Lee Baldwin (Stella), numerous great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews. She loved and was loved by all of her family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1st at 2:00 pm in Concord Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday at 1:00 pm until time of service.

The family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Gorsch at Centra Southside Hematology Oncology Clinic for their love and care.
