Audacity indeed! State Senator Frank Ruff showed real audacity in his recent editorial entitled “Audacity” in The Farmville Herald trying to blame the Democrats for Donald Trump’s policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the US-Mexico border.

It was Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy — not the Democrats — that led to the wholesale and inhumane separation of very young children from their families. Even Attorney General Jeff Sessions acknowledged that it was a Trump administration tactic to discourage the number of migrants asking for asylum in the U.S.

After a few days of U.S. and worldwide outrage and massive protests from the American people, including local peaceful protests, Trump signed an executive order reversing his inhumane family separation policy. Yes, Senator Ruff, we know the audacity of an inhumane policy and we know who put that policy, in place.
