Heather Lee Krajewski was appointed as Hampden-Sydney College’s (H-SC) vice president for college advancement, according to a Monday press release from the school.
Officials noted Krajewski’s appointment follows a comprehensive search led by a committee that included Hampden-Sydney faculty, staff and representatives from the Board of Trustees.
Krajewski comes to Hampden-Sydney from the University of Richmond, where she served most recently as assistant vice president for advancement, the release cited. It continued by stating she brings more than 20 years of advancement and development experience, with a track record of success both as a fundraiser and as a leader. In addition to a total of 13 years in the University of Richmond’s advancement division, Krajewski also served in development roles at the Library of Virginia Foundation and the University of Chicago.
“Heather impressed the search committee and me with the breadth and depth of her college advancement and fundraising experience,” H-SC President Dr. Larry Stimpert said in the release. “Her team-building and leadership talents were equally impressive. Heather also showed a remarkable connection with and admiration for Hampden-Sydney’s mission to form good men and good citizens. Her ability to articulate the distinctive attributes of our college assures us that she will be a highly effective ambassador for this institution. We look forward to harnessing the experience Heather will bring to our advancement efforts, as well as the leadership and vision she will offer as we together pursue an ambitious future for Hampden-Sydney College.”
As chief operating officer for the University of Richmond’s advancement division, Krajewski managed the department’s day-to-day operations, Hampden-Sydney officials noted in the release. They added that she played key roles in Richmond’s four-year targeted $150 million campaign, which ultimately raised a total of $172 million while drawing more than 9,000 first-time donors. Her career includes hands-on and strategic-level experience in every component of development and advancement operations, from annual giving and major gift programs to donor engagement and planned giving, the release highlighted.
“The Hampden-Sydney community is excited to welcome Heather Krajewski as our new vice president for college advancement,” said Jon A. Pace, chair of the search committee and a member of the college’s Board of Trustees. His quote in the release continued as he said, “Her experience at the University of Richmond and the University of Chicago — widely recognized as two of higher education’s major fundraising operations — informs her well of the opportunities ahead for Hampden-Sydney and will enable her to lead advancement efforts at the college with earned credibility. Most importantly, Heather joins a team on the move, one that is unified in its resolve to continue to fulfill Hampden-Sydney’s timeless mission to educate good men and good citizens.”
“It is a privilege and an honor to join the Hampden-Sydney community,” Krajewski said in the release. “I’ve long admired the distinctive and fascinating history of the college, as well as the devotion of its alumni. From its origins on the eve of the American Revolution to equipping today’s men to meet the evolving challenges of the 21st century, I know of no other college so singularly and comprehensively dedicated to forming good men and good citizens. I am thrilled for the opportunity to work closely with President Stimpert, as well as an incredible team of alumni, faculty, parents, friends and staff to increase philanthropic support, advance the mission of the college and ensure the unique Hampden-Sydney experience is strengthened for future generations of students.”
Krajewski holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Richmond, officials cited, adding that her husband, Robb Moore, serves as assistant vice president for advancement systems at the University of Richmond.
The release concluded by noting that Krajewski succeeds Dr. Herbert L. King, who recently became president of Lees-McRae College in North Carolina. Krajewski will assume her position at Hampden-Sydney in early August.
