Mrs. Kate Lee Scruggs Childress 84 of Buckingham, VA departed this life on Friday July 20, 2018 in Buckingham. She is survived by one son Daniel Scruggs (Rosena); four daughters, Bernice Dabney (Ernest), Debbie Elaine Dabney, Judy Scruggs and Belinda Holman (Chris); eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Hendricks and Florine Booker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. One niece and nephew that she treated as her own children, Darlene Langhorne (Jerry) and Thomas Scruggs (Rose).

Her remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home of Cumberland where public viewing will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 p.m. at Baptist Union Baptist Church in Buckingham. The Reverend Ollie W. Bolden, Eulogist, Pastor Dyanne Liggins presiding. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.www.mariangraythomasfuneralhome.com.
