Updated through Tuesday — Listed below are the results for the Dixie Softball games featuring teams from the Heart of Virginia that are competing in state double-elimination tournaments at the PEFYA Field of Dreams complex in Farmville. The Buckingham County Angels All-Star team was representing the Heart of Virginia in Madison Heights as part of the Dixie Softball Angels X-Play State Tournament.

Tuesday, July 17: PEFYA 17, Lunenburg 7

Wednesday, July 18: PEFYA vs. Clarksville, 8 p.m. at North Park

After straws were drawn, PEFYA received the bye and will face at 8 p.m. the winner of Wednesday’s 6 p.m. game between Clarksville and Powhatan National.

Monday, July 16: PEFYA 7, Buckingham 3

Buckingham was eliminated from the tournament. Manager Elton Chambers said, “We’re just going to figure out what the future holds for these girls now. (We’ve) got a good young team.”

PEFYA was eliminated from the tournament. “We’re young, and we’ll be back next year,” Manager Larry Conwell said.

Buckingham was eliminated from the tournament. It finished as the No. 3 team in the state. “Overall, I’m very proud of these girls,” Manager Brandon Morris said. “These girls worked very hard to get here, and they did great.”

This concluded the 2018 Dixie Softball SweeTees Tournament. Buckingham was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award. “To say I am proud of these girls is an understatement,” Manager Ashley Tyler said. “They all have worked hard and should be proud of themselves and their teammates.”
