While Buckingham County has had Debs, Darlings and SweeTee All-Star softball teams representing it in Farmville, its Angels All-Star squad has also been hard at work on the diamond in Amherst County, competing in the 2018 Virginia Dixie Softball Angels X-Play State Tournament.

Buckingham went 1-2 during the double-elimination event in Madison Heights that featured a six-team field, including Amherst American, Appomattox, Bedford National, Buckingham, Charlotte County and Dinwiddie.

The Buckingham girls opened their state run with a 7-3 victory over the Bedford National All-Stars on Friday.

In the 6 p.m. game Saturday, Buckingham took on the Dinwiddie All-Stars and struggled, falling 17-1.

Monday evening featured an Angels showdown between the host team, the Amherst American All-Stars, and Buckingham, with Amherst ultimately winning and eliminating Buckingham.
