Blood drives set

Three blood drives in the Heart of Virginia are scheduled to assist the American Red Cross with a critical need for blood donations, a release from the American Red Cross cited.
“The summer months are among the most challenging times of the year for blood donations because regular donors delay giving while they are on vacation and participating in warm-weather activities,” the release cited. “Regardless of the season, the Red Cross must collect more than 13,000 blood and platelet donations every day for patients at about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.”
