The Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Angels All-Star softball team recovered from a big opening loss to carry a 2-1 record into Monday evening’s game against the Dinwiddie All-Stars during the 2018 Dixie Softball Angels X-Play District 1 All-Star Tournament in Brunswick.
“It’s going good so far,” PEFYA Angels All-Stars Manager David Schmidt said Monday afternoon of how the tourney was proceeding for his team.
The only teams left in the double-elimination tourney entering Monday were PEFYA, Dinwiddie and Crewe-Burkeville, with Blackstone and Clarksville having been eliminated.
In its first game, PEFYA lost 14-2 to Dinwiddie on Friday afternoon.
“It was a bad first inning (in) which we allowed 12 runs,” Schmidt said. “After that it was a 2-2 ballgame.”
PEFYA bounced back in its next game Saturday evening, eliminating Blackstone with a 13-2 rout.
On Sunday evening, PEFYA fell behind 9-1 against Clarksville and staged a thrilling comeback to win 12-11.
