The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to CommunityCalendar@FarmvilleHerald.com.

FIREFLY FESTIVAL, 9-11 p.m. at High Bridge Trail State Park. Parking fee applies. Closest access if from the Camp Paradise parking area. Food trucks available. Educational lessons will be offered.

YARD SALE/CRAFT FAIR, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Cartersville Rescue Squad, 1667 Cartersville Road. Call (804) 308- 5748 to reserve your space.

YOUTH FISH FRY, noon, sponsored by the Rev. John Richardson at NAPA, 1587 Anderson Hwy., Cumberland. All proceeds will go directly to the Mt Olive Baptist Church Youth Ministries.

RANGER CHALLENGE, 1-3:30 p.m. sponsored by The Friends of Twin Lakes State Park. This event is open to youth 14 and younger with an adult partner. Teams will compete in various competitions. Prizes will be awarded at 4 p.m. Parent may participate in more than one team. Register at the sport of choice on the day of the event. The rain date is Sunday.

ROUTES OF RHYTHM MUSIC TRAIL, 7 p.m. at Bear Creek Hall featuring Pete Mont. The event is free. Daily parking fees apply. Light refreshments available.

JUNE EXTRAVAGANZA, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Cartersville Volunteer Rescue Squad building, 1667 Cartersville Road. Yard sale/craft fair, coffee and breakfast and a chicken barbecue meal will be available.

MEATLOAF SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse, 45 Campbell Hill Road, Prospect. Donation at the door appreciated. Carry out will be available. Everyone is welcome.

SCREENING OF THE BLACK PANTHER, 7 p.m. in the Moton Museum auditorium. Admission is free. Refreshments available.

YOUTH CELEBRATION PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland. Come out and support our youth.

NEW MEMBERS PICNIC, 5 p.m. for anyone interested in joining the Friends of Twin Lakes State Park. Join to learn more about activities to support the mission of the park. Rain date Sunday.

JUNE 17

FATHER’S DAY BRUNCH, 9:30 a.m. at Arvon Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome to come to this free event honoring our fathers.

WORSHIP SERVICES, 11 a.m. at Forest Baptist Church, Meherrin will be preached by the Rev. Larry Williams. All are welcome.

FATHER’S DAY MEAL, noon for all fathers at Calvary Baptist Church, 1144 Hendricks Road. Pamplin.

REGULAR MEETING, 11 a.m. of the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors in the conference room of the Prince Edward County Natural Resources and Agricultural Building, located at 100 Dominion Drive, Farmville. This is a change from our regularly scheduled meeting. The public is welcome.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church Tuggle Road, Farmville. Board games, fellowship and light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

ANNUAL WOMEN’S CONFERENCE, 8 a.m. – noon at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 919 Stoney Point Road, Cumberland. Guest speaker, Minister Sandy Patterson, Associate Minister at Dillwyn Holy Temple, Dillwyn. She will also be the guest preacher for 11 a.m. Women’s Day Worship Service Sunday, June 24.

3RD CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. for the Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church Adult Choir, Tuggle Road, Farmville. Various choirs on the program. Light refreshments will be served before the program beginning a 1 p.m. All are welcome.

100 MEN IN BLACK PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church, 615, Franklin St., Farmville. Guest speaker on the theme “Dressed for the Test” will be the Rev. Dr. Cavell Phillips, Assistant Pastor of the Richmond Christian Center and the 106.5 “The Beat” radio host. The program will pay tribute to men in black suits from the counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward. The event will benefit Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). All are welcome.

FREE LAY RESCUER TRAINING, 10-11:30 a.m. at Crossroads, 214 Bush River Drive, Farmville. Learn how to respond to an opioid overdose emergency with administration of naloxone.

CUMBERLAND COMMUNITY MARKET, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Payne Memorial Methodist Church at 1 Stoney Point Road, Cumberland. Handmade crafts, antiques/collectibles, produce, yard sale, direct market items and prepared food items. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Tables will be set up inside and outside.
