The Bag Ladies started when Janice Layne organized the club in April 2008 to support Southside SPCA in memory of Lori Jones’ dog Shana. The club members meet a few times a year to support various charities. April is Southside SPCA month and the club met at the VFW in Farmville on Saturday, April 21, to celebrate its l0th year. Jones traveled from Pennsylvania and Laurie Justus traveled from Damascus to help celebrate. Donations of food, leashes, collars, litter etc. were delivered to the shelter by Bobby Johnson. A monetary donation of $800 was sent to Southside SPCA by the club members. Matt Hurley of Fishin’ Pig made a contribution to the raffle to help raise money.
