Woman’s club attends district meeting

Members of the Woman’s Club Buckingham County GFWC traveled to South Boston to attend the Alice Kyle District meeting March 24.

The meeting was opened by Alice Kyle District President Gwen Hamlet. A business meeting followed. Lunch was served and new officers were elected for the next term. Each club brought a basket filled with goodies for a silent auction. Two awards were presented to the club in Arts and Fundraising. Members of the club won awards for the Arts and Crafts, and Writing Contest. The contest was held at an earlier date and then proceeded to the district level. Sharon Andrews winning two blue and one red ribbon; Marie Flowers, one blue; Jackie Fairbarns, one blue; Mary Lohr, two blue; Patsy Miessler one blue; Page Moran, one blue and Charlene Snoddy winning three blue ribbons. Marie Flowers won a blue ribbon for her short story and seven local school members won blue ribbons for the Writing Contest and for the Art Contest a total of 14 blue ribbons and nine red ribbons were won from the district.
