Students compete in FFA Southside Area Rally

The Buckingham Senior and Middle School FFA Chapters participated in many events at the 2018 FFA Southside Area Rally held in Chesterfield Tech Center on Tuesday, March 6.

During the event, members competed in the Veterinary Science, Creed Speaking, Small Engine Troubleshooting and Agriculture Mechanics contests.

In the Small Engine Troubleshooting contest, Trevor Agee placed third. Connor Bohannon competed in the Creed Speaking event and placed fourth. The Agricultural Mechanics Team A placed second with team members Anthony Banton, Daniel Wood, Jakob Toney and Trevor Agee. Individually, Agee placed third and Banton placed fourth. Agricultural Mechanics Team B placed fifth with team members included Shane Catlett, Hunter Townsend, Garrett Love and Chase Moss.

Also, competing was two veterinary science teams. Team A was made up of Amanda Bryan, Brandy Snoddy, Connor Bohannon and Ashley Smith who placed ninth. Team B placed 13th with team members included Grace Moss, Aley Ragland and Rachel Reeves. The Junior Agricultural Mechanics team placed second with team members Grant Martin, Francisco Palacios and Tim Smith. Smith placed fourth individually and Martin placed fifth.

The Agriculture Mechanics and Veterinary Science Teams will compete at the 91st Virginia FFA State Convention held in Blacksburg, June 26 – 29.
