Reginald Roy Eggleston

Reginald Roy Eggleston, age 68 of Prospect, VA, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2018. He was born on November 11, 1949 at Southside Community Hospital. He was the son of the late George C. and Annie C. Eggleston.

He would brighten the day with his constant smile, either a “Hey Gang” or “Hey Dear” and a big warm heart that always flowed with love. Reggie was a man of many talents from driving a wrecker to an oil truck, mail truck, rescue squad and fire truck.

He was the first fire rescue squad dispatcher hired in 1975 for the joint town-county operating system for the Farmville Fire Dept. His first love, fire fighting equipment and communications. He was a dispatcher for Prince Edward County and Town of Farmville, retiring from the town in January 1, 2018. He was a lifetime member of the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, member of Prospect Volunteer Fire Dept serving over 25 years and a member of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James W. “Egg” Eggleston and Paul Eggleston and a sister Ruby Barton.

Reggie is survived by his niece Joyce Paige Eggleston, his nephew Brian Paul Eggleston (Eve), a sister in law, one step-brother and two step-sisters and several cousins and nieces. His support team Pat and Ray Foster, Frank and Joyce Sweet, Al and Phyllis Mason, his best friend Gary Williams (Jeanne) a long time friend Mimi Bright and a very loving church family.

Family and friends will gather at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church in Prospect on Saturday, April 7, from 1-3 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glenn Memorial Baptist Church, 146 Harris Creek Road, Prospect, VA. 23960.
