Lady Knights top Prince Edward 8-3 for third consecutive win

The Buckingham County High School varsity softball team improved to 4-1 on the season when it defeated host Prince Edward County High School 8-3 on Tuesday evening. Lady Knights sophomore Mia Garrett, pictured at left, led all pitchers with six strikeouts across 5.2 innings. On offense, senior Emily Gormus led her team with two hits and three RBIs. Also helping runners score were Buckingham sophomore Kaya Amos, who had three RBIs, and sophomore Alivia Newton, who had two. The Lady Knights started their win streak April 10 with a 13-0 road win over Bluestone High School. Then they beat visiting Randolph-Henry High School 12-8 on April 12. Buckingham looked to extend its streak Thursday when visiting Amelia County High School. Amelia also visits Buckingham Friday at 5 p.m.
