The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to CommunityCalendar@ FarmvilleHerald.com.

APRIL 13

RECEPTION, 5-7 p.m. for local artist June Martin Taylor at the Pamplin Depot. Her work is currently displayed in the Community Room of the Pamplin Depot where it will remain through the month of April. Light refreshments will be served.

APRIL 14

CHOIR WORKSHOP, 10 a.m.-noon at Pilgrim Baptist Church with Sister Stacy Craig of the West Hill Baptist Church, instructor.

APPOMATTOX OYSTER AND SEAFOOD FESTIVAL, sponsored by The Appomattox County Historical Society. The event will feature more than 30 vendors, various food items and product tastings. There will be activities for adults and children.

SENIOR SAINTS APPRECIATION SERVICE, 2 p.m. at Fork Union Baptist Church, Buckingham. Theme, “In All Things Give Thanks,” we will be recognizing our members that are 80 years and older. The Rev Dr. Robert Perkins will be the guest minister and Mighty Men of Mt Zion will be the guest choir.

DOG WALK, 10 a.m. beginning at the Appomattox Wayside pull off. Wear appropriate shoes for walking in the woods. All dogs must be on a leash.

FAMILY FUN DAY, all day at Buckingham library to share flower- themed activities.

GOSPEL EXTRAVAGANZA, 2-5 p.m. at Elk’s Hall, Main Street, Farmville, sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Farmville Alumnae Chapter. DJ, food, door prizes and much more.

YOUTH WORSHIP SERVICE, 10 a.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Route 60, Cumberland. Guest speaker, Jovan Petty. All are welcome.

ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the Missionary Ministry of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. Guest speaker the Rev. Samuel Trent, pastor of Old Green Creek Baptist Church, Farmville and Morrison Grove Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House. Please wear white. Refreshments will be served.

BASKET BINGO, 2-4 p.m. at the Abilene Community Center, next to Beulah United Methodist Church, 12123 County Line Road, Keysville. For information or tickets call (434) 547-7490.

MUSIC MINISTRY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church. Guest speaker the Rev. Mary A. Eldridge, Associate Pastor, Baptist Union Baptist Church and the Baptist Union Baptist Church choir will render the music. Meal will be served.

DEACONESS BOARD ANNUAL DAY, 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 16 Horsepen Road, Farmville. Special guest will be the singing preacher Pastor Patsy Taylor of North Carolina. Everyone is welcome.

APRIL MEETING, 2 p.m. of the Cumberland County Historical Society at the museum, old clerk’s office, at Cumberland Courthouse.

ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the Voices of Praise Youth Choir of Jericho Baptist Church, 615 Franklin St. Guests will be Cellar Creek Youth Choir of Blackstone and Fourth Mount Zion Youth Choir from Crewe. All are welcome.

CONVERSATIONS BEFORE CRISIS WORKSHOP, 4-5 p.m. at Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library. The workshop will guide participants in reflecting on what kind of health care they would want in a crisis situation. RSVP required, email ahayes-bowman@newcenturyhospice. com or call (434) 395-1042.
