Cumberland 4-H is now accepting registrations for the 2018 Junior 4-H Camp, which is an overnight camp for youth ages nine to 13 to be held at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center. Campers from Cumberland, Nelson and Albemarle/Charlottesville will attend from July 2-6. 4-H Camp is a fun and exciting way for youth to develop life skills while meeting new friends and learning to be independent. While at camp, youth will attend four classes of their choosing among archery, canoeing, outdoor cooking, crafts, fishing, nature, theater, riflery and swimming. Campers can request a roommate and stay in cabins of about 10 youth as well as trained teen and adult volunteers.
The theme for this year’s camp is “Patriotism” and certain evening programs and other activities will focus around that theme. Paid registration for Cumberland residents includes meals, lodging, transportation, T-shirt and all class supplies/ materials. Registration deadline is May 21, register as soon as possible to ensure a spot. Limited income-based scholarships are available and require the completion of a onepage form along with deposit in order to be considered.
