Accident sends two to hospital

A vehicle accident on U.S. Route 15, in the area of 5766 Farmville Road, resulted in two people being transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

A 2015 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling south on U.S. Route 15, Virginia State Police Trooper Mike Ollie said. The vehicle “crossed the center line” and struck a silver Ford Escape head on. According to Ollie the silver vehicle was traveling northbound on U.S. Route 15. The accident was reported between 2-2:10 p.m., Ollie said.

Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department and Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office were on scene of the accident.

Ollie stated the driver of the Chevrolet was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening and the drivers of both vehicles were the only occupants in the vehicles.

Ollie said the driver of the silver Ford Escape, who was on scene, was in the process of being transported to the hospital.

Responders directed traffic on the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. Route 15.
