2018 PEFYA Opening Ceremonies

Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) held its opening ceremonies for the 2018 spring baseball and softball season Saturday morning at the PEFYA Field of Dreams complex on Industrial Park Road in Farmville. Pattie Cooper-Jones, chairwoman of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors, throws out the first pitch for baseball to catcher Ryder Davis as PEFYA Baseball Commissioner Rhodes Martin and representatives for all of PEFYA’s baseball and softball teams look on. Cooper-Jones also threw out the ceremonial first pitch for softball, with Caroline Seal serving as the catcher. The ceremonies were opened with prayer. Then 5-year-old Savannah Redford sang the national anthem as her father, James Redford, stood by. Following this, the 2017 PEFYA Debs, Ponytails and Minors teams that advanced to their respective World Series were recognized.
