Graduating seniors enrolled in Prince Edward County High School (PECHS) are invited to apply for the sixth annual Elias Jones Memorial Scholarship. Jones was a senior at PECHS when he died suddenly in 2012. According to a press release, to honor his memory, his family and friends fund a scholarship for a PECHS student who will continue his or her education in either a two or four year college or university. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a student for his or her leadership skills and for his or her strength of character.

The scholarship application packet is available in the guidance office of PECHS. The award is $2,000. Students who have been active in the community and in school are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is April 19.
